Temple Of Joy
Vivid House

I was invited to collaborate with visual artists Elliott and Marty Routledge, and my musical partner, Nicky Routledge, to create a 10-minute immersive artwork presented at Vivid Sydney in 2022. I crafted a three-dimensional soundscape designed specifically for this custom-built immersive space to accompany the score.

The piece is a homage to Sydney’s once vibrant dance party scene and an ode to the joy and happiness it brought revellers.

Vivid House is a 360-degree walk-through experience hosting up to 100 people at a time. The sound system was powered by Barco’s proprietary IOSONO Spatial Audio Workstation system. Speakers, lighting fixtures and smoke machines were packed under the floor, behind the LED screens, and above the audience for full immersion.

Vivid Sydney is the annual Festival of Light, Music and Ideas which transforms Sydney’s CBD each June and was attended by a record-breaking 2.58 million visitors in 2022.
